HELP SET THE PRIORITIES FOR AFL 2021

As we close out the longest year in memory and get ready for our February launch, we need your help to set the priorities for AFL 2021!

We are hosting a series of facilitated sessions to hear from educators about what you need and how this community can help. These sessions are designed around peer sharing and connection to surface the most important assessment challenges and opportunities we face.

WINTER LAUNCH

February 3 2021

BLAST OFF YOUR LEARNING WITH A MINI-CONFERENCE

At the Winter Launch you'll connect with peers to chart a flexible learning journey that takes you deeper into assessment for learning.

The Winter Launch, a 3 hour virtual event, is organized around "conversations that need to happen" among educators and systems leaders on assessment, equity and justice. The Winter Launch will help you reflect, set intentions and explore which AFL 2021 offerings will help boost your learning.

IDEA COLLIDER

February-March 2021

REFINE, COMBINE, ITERATE and PUBLISH AFL PRACTICES

When objects (or ideas) collide, they are transformed. Neither leaves as they were when they entered. In the Idea Collider you'll join other practitioners to share practical assessment for learning strategies. Together, you'll generate more powerful solutions to meet unique challenges of this moment.

Idea Collider participants will leave with your own practice refined, a better understanding of the needs it fulfills, a plan for activating the practice more deeply, and concise language and story to "pass it on." As always, participants will also leave with new muscles for colliding ideas on their own and using these processes to make headway moving forward.

EARTHRISE CHATS

December-May 2021

CONVERSATIONS THAT NEED TO BE HAD

Earthrise chats are virtual circles that invite leaders in the field, like you, to examine familiar issues from a whole new perspective.

Inspired by one of the most famous photos ever taken, Earthrise chats are conversations about important topics coming from the assessment for learning community.

The Apollo 8 astronaut who took the photo, William Anders, said "We set out to explore the moon, but we discovered Earth." If the assessment for learning sets out to explore what we previously assumed to be out of reach, what might we discover?

SPRING CONFERENCE

May 6-7 2021

A FLIPPED VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

The 2021 Assessment for Learning Conference is a two day virtual learning experience. Conference sessions will be 'flipped' so that we can spend our live time together in smaller group discussions of content, questions of practice, and design.

The Conference will be a chance to build the collective knowledge and shared vision of the Assessment for Learning community. The design of the Conference will be deeply informed by the structures described above, so more details will be available in 2021.
