When does the conference begin and end?
The conference begins at 1:00pm PT on Tuesday February 11 and concludes at 1:30pm on Thursday February 13. The opening sessions on Tuesday afternoon and closing sessions on Thursday morning will be highly interactive and are essential to the your overall learning experience. We strongly recommend that you plan your travel to attend both.
How do I make hotel reservations?
When you click on "Register Now," you will be brought to an Eventbrite site. When you register, you will be prompted to enter your arrival and departure dates, which will make your reservations at the Hotel Del Coronado. When you check in, you will need to present a credit card to pay for your room (unless you have been notified that by ALP that your room is covered in the master bill).
Who is the target audience for this conference?
The target audience is teachers, school and district administrators, state level administrators, and non-profit folks that have influence or authority over assessment in their context, no matter how large or small the scale of this influence. While the conference is grounded in practice, it is not primarily a “how to.” It is about exploring key concepts in assessment for learning, building and connecting your existing knowledge, and imagining together how we can move the center of gravity of our assessment systems away from accountability and evaluation and toward learning.
Can I submit a proposal for a conference session?
We invite proposals for EdTalks and consultancies based on a problem of practice you bring. For this first year of the conference, we are accepting session proposals on an invite-only basis.
Is the Assessment for Learning Project still making grants?
Not at this time.
Are scholarships or travel assistance available?
We have a small amount of assistance available to support more equitable access to the conference.
Can I attend if I’m not a part of the Assessment for Learning Project?
Yes! This conference is open to the public for registration, and we are designing it intentionally to create a welcoming environment for people who have not been connected with ALP.
Do you have room blocks available at hotels other than the Del Coronado?
No. However, there are several other hotels of varying price points on Coronado Island.
Is there someone I can speak with to figure out if this is the right conference for me?
